Pricing

Personal quoting. We feel your project is too important to allow the pricing to be based solely on the product of a spreadsheet formula, which is why we take a look at every one of your files as part of our quoting process    Quoting in this fashion allows us to take a close look at your files, and assess a pricing level in a manner more accurate than can be had from a program.  Because of this, often times we'll spot opportunities for improving your SLA outcome, part design, even help you find ways to improve design for manufacturing.  We understand this method requires a little more time than some of the automated, on-line quoting methods, but hope you agree the added benefits are worth it.  It's our goal to get you a quote in less than 2 working hours.  If you ever have a real hot project and need your quote sooner than that, just let us know, we'll do all we can.

SLA pricing is a based on a part file's X, Y, and Z extent dimensions, volume, and surface area, in conjunction with the personal assessment of the file as stated above.  Also, the amount of benchwork required to finish the SLA models has a direct affect on pricing.  In general, simple parts will cost less than complex parts, and big parts will cost more than small parts, the only way to know for sure is to send your 3D CAD file to Protogenic and ask for a quote.  More information on how to obtain a quote is found here.

At Protogenic, we're happy to 'ballpark' based on a 2D drawing or sketch, but before we can confirm pricing we must first receive a 3D CAD file from you.

Mold pricing is driven to some degree by the SLA price.  In general, the higher the SLA cost, the higher the mold cost.  Mold cost considers the bench work required to finish your functional SLA to a 'mold ready finish,' which includes all of the cosmetics you specify during the mold approval process.  Polished features, and parts where finishing is required on both sides of a model, will increase the mold price.  Also, the cost of the silicone itself is figured into the mold cost, so it's fair to say the larger the part, the higher the mold cost.  Custom color matching is included in your mold price, one free color per mold.  You can learn more about the molding process here.

Cast part pricing is very similar to SLA pricing, in that it's mainly a function of how much urethane a part will consume, and how much finishing is involved, so larger parts will cost more than smaller parts.  Threaded inserts or Helicoils, as well as custom packaging is included in the cast part price, for more information about threaded fasteners please look here.

Laser Sintering is again priced based on a part file's X, Y, and Z extent dimensions, volume, and surface area.  For higher quantities, consideration of build capacity, Z height, and delivery dates are factored in, so that your projects will receive the full benefits of run efficiencies and economies of scale.

If you have any questions at all about part pricing, questions about how to read your quote from Protogenic, or have a project you'd like to discuss, please contact a Protogenic representative, we look forward to working with you.
